Lucian Freud

Lucian Freud

I was reading through a magazine and I came across this picture of Lucian Freud. I’ve never seen him before though I have seen his artwork in the London museum of art. He’s so handsome! 🙂 And apparently he had quite a talent at surrealism, neo-romanticism and realism. Too many big words? He painted the world as he saw it, as it was.

My favourite painting of his is Girl with kitten

He drew loads of pictures of the human body, mostly naked, mostly close family – his mother and sisters – and he didn’t use strong colours. He also drew the city a lot from his window. A mound of trash in the way? No problem, we’ll include it in the end picture.

He died in 2011 but his paintings are selling still very well. A portrait of Andrew Parker Bowles (Camilla’s ex) is to be sold for £19.8 millions at a New York Auction.
